it is the moon that reflects the sun's light to earth.
because it has no atmosphere thus it acts like a mirror and is able to reflect sunlight.

The reflection from the boots of the astronauts in that photo was a focused light at close distance, it was a directed light. not a reflected light.

Well the thing about conspiracy theorists is, they see a blurry video and immediate conclude "Ha! THAT'S FAKE!", when you put the complexity of the mission in perspective and realize, just like a "reality show" how complex that mission can be, and how by careful analysis and intelligent identification, you realize that this broadcast is actually live and indeed being broadcast on 3 different US TV Networks on the day the mission was happening.

You may notice that the text I pasted below shows MET (mission elapsed time) which was being broadcast LIVE during December 12, 1972, on NATIONAL TV...so what could get more "reality show" than that? I know this question is for SD, but you have to clarify certain points of your question before he can give a valid answer:

a) 3 degrees from NW from what? The lunar horizon?

b) What does the position of the earth have anything to do with the calculation of shadows, when all you need to calculate a shadow is a light source (i.e. sun) and a surface to cast that shadow upon (in this case the surface of the moon)? Ergo, the position of the earth can be disregarded in this problem.

c) You people keep talking about angles of shadows when in fact, the more important (and measurable) data is the length of shadows. Because obviously the answer to the angle by which you are referring to would necessarily be the angle of the sun from the lunar horizon, and in this case, 3 degrees! Ergo, length of the shadow is the more critical value here.
