    1. booksmart or common sense?
    -- Both (justified below)

    2. do you think common sense is acquired or inborn?
-- common sense is acquired with experience and education. Being bookish may not result to intelligence since many can simply use "memorization" to pass as being a bookish person, but school and education teaches us to develop skills in understanding and looking at situations abstractly.

--A person who has gone through and seen many in life may posses more common sense than one who hasnt.

    3. do you think everyone really has common sense? what do you think when someone say "BRIGHT MAN UNTA KA PERO BOGO LANG" does it mean he/she's academically smart but just doesnt have common sense?
-- like they say: "Common sense is not so common anymore". What they mean is, it is easy to get high scores in test and grades since most questions given at school are purely identification or objective and not analyzation and problem-solving. Thus, many people do not have the opportunity to practice their skill in looking at life with "common sense" since they're all too busy passing the course through memorization.

However, education is an essential component to having common sense. it may not have to be a high degree, but it is what helps develop the brain to look at things out of the box.

As for school being applied to work : "30% we learn from the classroom, 70% we learn outside the classroom"

No. common sense can be attained through experience.

Like an animal in the jungle who's fallen into the river. If it survives, it will learn from that experience and not repeat it again. Common sense.

Or a dog who knows that hot food hurts the mouth. next time he feels steam from food, he waits before eating.

But it takes good education to use common sense sensibly and effectively.

They're 2 sides of the coin which are beneficial to each other.

ako: nya ma sa katong batan-on pa ka ma, wala ka kasinati ug kalagot bahin niining atong lipunan?
mama: Nagpuyo naman ta diri sa kalisod. Wa ko'y mabuhat dong kay wa ko'y gahom.
@floRIDA I feel ya man! esteplere!

OnT: Mura'g sakto gyud nga Common Sense > Booksmart.

but is it really necessary to finish college to survive and be successful in this life?

i had a classmate, her parents pawned all their possessions just for the sake of her finishing school and poor bugger isnt smart nor have a common sense. her parents have been pushing her to finish college because they believe that if she gets a diploma then she will be able to get a stable job and have a good life. i honestly dont understand why some parents are very pushy of sending their kids to school and wanting them to excel academically rather than teaching them common sense. now her parents are so broke and yeah she finished school but cant even get a call center job.yes shes got a diploma but she always fail during interviews .

how can a kid nowadays or the new generation have common sense when the parents dont even have it? sure enough alot of people are gonna end up booksmart but have no idea of how to face the real world .

let's just say that with the economy today and scarce jobs, finishing college will result to a higher possibility of having a stable future, but not definite.

Though, not finishing school has a lower possibility, BUT not impossible to get a stable future. You are living proof of that, and consider yourself lucky and blessed.

besides, nowadays, employers not only look at the individual's academics but the attitude and outlook on work. The person may be smart in her records, but perform badly due to lack of confidence, or virtues.
