Default Two PHL gov't officials trade barbs on Twitter

Apparently, it's not only showbiz celebrities who find themselves embroiled in what is now known as "Twitter Wars" but also government officials – two of them spent three hours exchanging heated words on Twitter.

As reports on storm Falcon's exit from Philippine territory blared, another "storm" raged Saturday noon over popular social networking site Twitter, this time between two high-ranking government officials.

Twitter users were treated to an intense word war between Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte and Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay over statements made by ex-President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Arroyo, who on Friday broke her 13-month silence amid constant criticisms hurled by the present administration, hit back President Benigno Aquino III's lame efforts in solving the perennial flood problems in Cotabato City in Mindanao.

“[A plan] exists [and] it just needs to be continued," Arroyo said, pointing out that the incumbent president “should not grope [in the dark] because there is a master plan for the project against flooding."

In a radio interview over state-run radio dzRB Saturday morning, Valte said the administration is continuing the programs of its predecessor, but only those that "work."

She also said that Malacañang is ready to trade barbs with Arroyo and her allies regarding the issue.

“Matagal na natin sinasalag ang banat ng kaalyado ni dating Pangulong Arroyo, at katulad ng ipinakita natin kahapon, handang handa tayo," Valte said.

Saturday's Twitter debate is apparently the opening salvo in the administration's attempts to defend itself against the opposition's criticisms.
Magsaysay, a staunch ally of Arroyo, pointed out that the incident was not a "catfight," as she merely needed "answers for issues raised."

"No catfight here, just a discussion. We're ladies, after all," retorted Valte.

Battle of the Brainless... The whole system is corrupt, no amount of planning nor sugar couted words will help in anything.
