^ Well, when the government surrenders, what's the point of continuing the war?
ww2 is different than today. the number of casualties will be extremely high if we go into war with the upgraded weapons they built.

Since the TS did not specify the aggressor's origin, let me share in context of internal threat specifically from the Moro rebels..
It almost happened twice in my hometown Iligan City. History would tell that for centuries there were many attempts to invade iligan.. My older family relatives would tell of their experiences back in the 60's and 70's but i wasn't born then.. In recent years particularly in 2000 and in 2009, there was again an attempt to take over my hometown and i guess you saw it on the news.. Actually the shooting war between the MILF and the govt troops came very close to our boundaries.. War is on our doorstep.. How close? Back in 2000 i could literally hear 105mm howitzer cannons pounding enemy positions. Everyday on the highway you could see dead bodies carried by army trucks or police mobile pick-ups.. In one scenario you can see 5 army trucks full of marines in full battle gear, each truck towing a howitzer cannon, not only that, there's an M113 or scorpion tank on the lead and another two APC's at the end of the convoy.. Above you could see helicopters busy with their sorties.. It was in 2000 i heard the last boom of F5 jet fighters.. I could also remember in 2009, there were two nights we were ordered by our mayor to turn off the lights in our houses.. Every 500 meters on the highway is a military checkpoint.. Gaisano mall in iligan was guarded by at least 5 armored carriers.. APC's were patrolling the main thoroughfares..
To cut the story short, i was scared but i didn't panic. During that time I heard that most of the upper and middle class families already fled to nearby Cagayan de oro and Cebu.. I gave my mom, sis, bro and pamangkin the option to pack things and leave the city. And they did. A lot is at stake so i decided to stay.. I said to them i don't want our properties looted.. In case i die, naa pa man sila to take care of my remains.. If ever an external agressor threatens our nation, then i might do the same..
*back to the experience i had, during those two attempts we civilians in iligan were authorized by our city officials to arm ourselves.. i could remember kami sa akong barkada we spent almost 50k just for ammunitions and explosives..![]()
