Of course the Supreme Court will not entertain testimonies of relatives and friends who OBVIOUSLY wanted them (including Paco) exculpated of the crimes charged.

The Supreme Court was cold and neutral and only decided the case based on merit. There is no showing of violation of due process which justifies the reversal or setting aside of late Judge Ocampo’s ruling.

The Supreme Court like anyone else cannot please everybody…..

Supreme Court cold and neutral? Thats news to me. The problem with Supreme Court decisions is that they base their decisions on documents presented to them. They were not there when the case was being promulgated. They were not there when testimonies were given. Watching a witness testify is a whole different ballgame than just reading a witness testimony. If the Supreme Court was given documents that Cat is a Dog, then of course they will decide that Cat is a Dog. Unsay gi luto siyempre maoy gyud pud ilang kan-on.
BTW Hillario Davide III, Former Chief Justice's son, was private prosecutor in that case. I am not trying to imply something with that but that makes you think, doesn't it?

Since when did the Supreme Court stopped entertaining testimonies from relatives and friends? Can you update us on this considering we are not as knowleadgeable in the inner workings of the Supreme Court unlike you.

How about this, how would you feel if your brother shot somebody in SELF DEFENSE and the only witness in that incident is you and your brother ends up in jail because the courts refused to admit your testimony being a brother and all? The Supreme Court agrees with that ruling because you are family and you OBVIOUSLY want your brother exculpated. Have you even stopped and wonder what are the implications if our Mighty Supreme Court stopped accepting testimonies from Families and Friends? Or are we just going to make the Chiong Case an exception to help serve your point?

Lets talk about influence. Having a name like Osmena, Aznar, Pacquiao, Early_Bird does not guarantee influence. Sometimes belonging in a prominent, influential family may work against you. What matters is KNOWING THE RIGHT PEOPLE at the RIGHT TIME. Paco had a case of BAD TIMING. That might sound too shallow but take it as it is.

Look at Binay. This boy scout was practically untouchable during Erap's time, pero tan-awa ron, NA SUSPENSO. Weather weather lang yan.

If you would be so kind to explain to us, why of all people si PACO ilaha na pili to frame-up? Why not any ordinary tambay sa kanto who dont have enough money and influence to fight back?

If I may recall former Justice Davide didn't take part in the promulgation of the case...I will respect your opinion if for you think that the Court of Last resort had committed an injustice. But then again i would reiterate that like anyone else, the SC cannot please everybody.. Peace!

pero kuan man tingali... case to case basis man sad ang pag hatag ug merit sa testimonies sa relatives..
for in you example it's a hanging scenario.. but for purposes of giving reply to your "crime Scenario" there are a lot of facts and details to be established by your scenario and we just cant come up into conclusion.. like whether there is a previous grudge between the accused and the victim, whether the accused is insane or having criminal record or whatsoever, who provoke the fight that resulted to shooting, was it necessary to shoot the victim to prevent or repel the victim, was there an unlawful aggression on the part of the victim, and all other circumstances etc. etc. etc. P E A C E...
