True "Communism" can never be achieved with the prevailing weakness of man which is the lust for power, the desire to own things, and the desire to do the things that he want. It is good only in the beginning but as you progress throughout the years you will feel the emptiness, the dullness, and that feeling of not being able to achieve self -actualization in a communist society.

Thus Karl Marx's theories as some call it simply remain a "theory." No country has ever achieved "true communism."

Even communist countries like China are gearing towards capitalism. In fact, for me, China is not a communist country but rather a dictatorial aristocracy where only the members of the party are running the country with, of course, a dictator on top. For how can communism claim "equality" when those who are working in the government and the people's army are somewhat "higher" in rank and class as compared to the common people? When those who are in government (including the army) are eating good food and wearing crisp & clean clothes as compared to the masses? Even the People's Liberation Army of China own many businesses. It was once qouted by the now defunt Asiaweek Magazine as the richest institution of "China Incorporated."

I can only remember my sociology professor who said that a communist society enforced here on Earth would be an "anarchy" since in order to achieve equality (in terms of property and class), there has to be a "literal equality" in its most literal meaning.

We can never blame some people for espousing Communism as a solution. Oh well, their environment dictated them to do so.

Anyhow, based on my readings and understanding, communism however can be achieved as a way of life. Just by looking and treating at other people with respect, helping others in time of need, and most importantly dealing with others in utmost fairness, then we can all make this world a better place to live.

Even if the communists would be given the chance to ran this country, they would still not be able to solve the same old problems. Its like replacing an evil system with another but much more evil system.
The ultimate solution lies in each and everyone of us. I cannot describe what it is because it is inherent and unique in each and everyone of us. If we can all unite together and do something good for our country then that's it.

It will just be all the same. My logic is this...If there would be leftists rallying against any new president and accusing him/her as a puppet of the US government... then there would be rightists and pro-democracy groups demanding for reforms under a communist government.

Right now, the communist insurgency in this country is costing it everything. Jose Maria Sison does not even have the balls to come to this country and help his fellowmen. He is basking in good life in the Netherlands while his so-called comrades are suffering here, some of them eating only "buwad" and "kangkong." His propaganda has cost the lives of many innocent people just as Bush's invasion of Iraq has cost innocent Iraqi lives. Well he's no different to Bush -- his enemy -- after all! What an irony...!

When can some people realize that every new president is never given the chance to be supported of his/her programs. He/she will always be greeted of rallies, some of which are irrelevant and out of bounds. Even Jose Maria Sison cannot perfectly run a government. Would the leftists rally against him too and call him a puppet of the US? Would it only stop if the leftists themselves run this country? Would they too be able to solve our problems?

There can never be a perfect leader in any system. Not unless maybe if Jesus comes down again and be a president. But oh well, some people will misunderstood him again, rally against him and call him a puppet of someone, and maybe crucify him the second time...

WHY IS ARMED STRUGGLE THE ONLY SOLUTION?

maybe the intent of communism is good but the intents of some people are not. there are always rightists and leftists, good and bad, pros and cons. these motivate us to thrive more and more and more... there's no ending! people no satisfaction. we'll continue to live with it. and there will never ever be a perfect system. but the sad part is there are only few who will always gain from different systems. bow!

but there is always a better system that will forsee the good of the majority and not of the few..if well try to assess everything that is happening in our country, the system is filthy and is run by the rightist jerks in the government..*sigh*armed revolution could be the most justifiable answer to this rotting status quo.

two decades ago this communist movement really made sense during the Marcos regime..but i dunno what causes they are fighting now when they can have due process in airing their grievances in court..

well we cannot blame the poor for having the armed struggle as an alternative because that's the only weapon they have against the "money" of the rich... but the problem is that these communist fronts like KMU, Bayan Muna, etc.. are always taking advantage of every problem that our government is facing just to destabilize it and give that rotten Jose Maria Sison a chance of seizing power....

Just take a look at the Hacienda Luisita massacre... Majority of the people who went there to rally were not really the farmers but members of communist fronts who were wrapped up and fielded to that place... Evidence Well, was shown on ABS-CBN were busloads and truckloads of red flag bearing people who were coming and flocking to the site... An autopsy was made on some of the peasants who were massacred and it was found out that they too fired at the policemen (they were positive of gunpowder)... WHERE DID THEY get their ammunitions? Of course none other than from the NPA...

Look at the recent Jeepney strike last week.. Majority of the drivers didn't want to join the strike because they wanted to earn a living but members of these communist fronts barricaded streets, intimidated them and brainwashed them about their so-called cause... And it's ironic that during the 1980s, these leftist groups were the very ones pushing for the Oil Deregulation Law because they wanted to break the monopoly/cartel of oil... Nobody can deny these facts, I have 1980s news clippings if you want..........

as far as respect for ther person *behind* the opinion is concerned, no problem. however, the need arises to correct certain points.

arnoldsa, i concur that you have not exactly understood the marxist perspective of things, as your approach practically bespeaks of spencer's social darwinism, characteristic of 'survival for the fittest' individualism, and downgrading societal effects on individuals, thinking the individual as the prime mover for change - the characteristic capitalist.

before you heap accusations in the Left, think of what side of the political spectrum contributed the most in oustering Marcos and Erap, who started the campaign, and who merely went in along the bandwagon.

explore marxist dialectics so that you can better understand what you are talking about, and delve deeper on the difference as to function, ideology and manner of organization between the above-ground and the underground movements in the country... not just the crap you hear about everyday.

also, learn about social classes and their attributes. it seems that your sociology prof forgot about them.
