But your post does bring up a very good point, which is why I said that the Gov't and the corporations/businesses should sit down and discuss these things in order to arrive at a compromise. Pero di sad tingali pwede na isa ra ka sector ang umentuhan...

My reasoning is that if you raise the wage in 1 sector, surely the other minimum wage workers who are employed by medium and small-sized companies will cry foul. At the end of the day pareho ra man ta tanan ug presyo gibayran sa merkado for basic commodities.

It's not an easy problem. If it were easy, dugay ra unta ni nasulbad. But that's not to say there is no solution to this problem.

    There is always a way.

So, what can you suggest? What should the Gov't and the large corporations and the small to medium-sized businesses do in order to help the minimum wage workers? If a wage increase is not possible, then how can the price of basic commodities be pulled down?

At this point I am eager to read about new ideas, and suggestions, etc.

    Thanks.

They may cry foul, but if the industries they are working in collapse because of their unreasonable demands its not like a factory worker can suddenly show up at the call center and get work, most likely they will end up unemployed for a very long time, maybe years. Now can our country sustain that? There is nothing foul about different industries getting different wage hikes (or some industries being exempted) because different industries employ different kinds of people...

So it should be across the board then.

How about percentages? Like for example, 5% increase for those small time businesses.

My point is, all should get something bahala na ug dili pantay basta naa lang jud madawat ang tanan.

If this will be push through, It will have a domino effect. Many companies will lay off workers, mu mahal ang mga pagkaon, Businesses will close which means unemployment rate will soar.

Well, you two are a bunch of optimists.

I don't think anybody would allow that to happen.

Probably for really small private companies that make less than 250K net profits a month this will be an issue, but what companies these days dont make over 500k~1M of monthly net profits.. callcenters make ~1M in just a week or so..

IMO, This is a good move.

agree, ang pilipinas virtually way consumer protection. way utok ni si pakwayuwaw wui. ang obvious na solution ang gipangita and milk a situation for whatever it's worth para musikat pa jud (most people won't likely notice this), short term solution ra makaya niya mahunahuna tingali. not even sure if this is better than nothing, for this might translate to overpricing of goods that is disproportionate to the wage increase.
