bai, we're still testing the functionality of the server NOT the network load. To make our test successful let's address one issue at a time. Right now we're still testing the connectivity let's work on that first.

ok i got my system set up. pb enabled and updated. I had to do some port forwarding and other fancy sugar and spice. I still need to communicate in real time as the IP is somewhat dynamic.
I could browse my system from the server browser in bf2 but I can't connect to it with my game. It must be caused by in/out effect of the same host. I had a similar problem trying to connect to a counter-strike server I set up a while back.
actually posted it few lines up ^^ it's Tr4Q3rOriginally Posted by tokidoki
lemme know any updates on your experiment. Good luck
maybe you need to forward more ports as i think the server browser and the game itself uses diff ports? im not sure though. regarding dynamic ip.. you can use the free service from http://www.dyndns.comOriginally Posted by tokidoki
Battlefield 2142 == Spyware?

So. In the latest CGW podcast, they received retail boxed copies of BF 2142.
When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.
Now, I can live with certain in-game ads (though apparently there will be Dodge truck and Neon ads in the bleak, futuristic world of 2142), but including a lengthy description - outside of even the Eula - seems to indicate even EA knows that this is some shady borderline spyware shit. I don't support it and won't be buying 2142 (for a host of other reasons, too).
I'd say more of an Adware. This is to support In-game ads.. I have no problems with this == would add to realism to the game.. but they should have freakin lowered the price of the game to about 10bucks!!! For this reason, I won't be buying 2142. If they charge us the full amount, they would have an option to disable advertising. It should work like an ad-supported game.Originally Posted by cooldude75ph

Lisod na kaayo what other 'info' they may be getting from a pc which doesn't have 2142 'firewalled' from leaking info...2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records "anonymous" information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other "computing habits" in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.
so far the server is set up. sorry i didn't spot that userid you posted. LOL nasagol man gud nimo sa lain reply. hehehe...
I believe the server should be working as I can view it from the game browser. I have confirmed other ports to work as originally bf2 game browser could not query my server. I opened a few more ports and now it can be browsed and shows the server info. I believe the my inability to connect has something to do with the fact that the client is in the local and the ip being used is now the public ip. It's probably experiencing a connectivity issue of trying to loopback to itself. I need someone on the outside to verify this. I'll add you up later tonight.
btw, ang bf2 ports wiki shows a range of ips. naa ba ni paagi madali sa xp? Can we specify ranges here?
can you post the ip of the server? I wanna help try it out. I don't have x-fire btw.
