Maypa diretsohon na lang na ug sulti gud...kada usa nato taga-an ug unique number...unya if you want a cellphone...you just show your unique ID to the cellular provider and mao na dayun to imo cellular number which is the same as your ID number.

Number portability should be given. The only complication I see is that what is prefix which is ordinarily the area code ... has become the network identification. 917 has become designated to a company instead of an area. Perhaps every cellphone number registered to a certain area should be given the area's area code instead of the company designated code. Everyone buying a cellphone plan in Cebu would get the 32 or any other area codes assigned to Cebu regardless of their carrier. This is how it is done in many other parts of the world and is more logical.

We have this system here in Canada . There are 12 area codes (not includeing overlays) in Ontario . If Philippines wants to adopt this kind of system , there would be a lot of area codes in Cebu alone . Maybe 1 per District ? Hmmm ...

maintaining an open database to hold 100million subs will be very costly...basin i-transfer ang capex sa mga users/subscribers...unya ang Globe/Sun/SMART has to pay license to their suppliers para anang capacity to hold 100million subs. Unsa-on na lang if ang subscribers nimo 5million lang unya ang imong license gibayaran is good for 100million subs?..hapak sa subscribers ang cost 95million licenses?

nindot ni kay mahibaw-an unsa nga area gkan o registered ang usa ka number pero how do we solve extra capacity costs? 032 xxx xxxx is roughly 10million records. if mag allocate ta ug 10million records per area code, paksit na pud ta sa licenses...ihapak na pud sa subscribers ang cost in maintaining an empty record which is a paid license.

sa akong nahibaw-an, ang Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Lucent charges the cellular providers a certain fee for every subscriber capacity opened in the cellular network database. Marunong man pud ning mga suppliers, you cannot expand subscriber capacity if you dont buy license(authority to use more space in the database). Dili man gud ni parehas sa atong computers nga palit lang ta ug hard drive sa kilid kilid para mo expand ang hard drive capacity sa atong computers.

When we talk of capacity in telecom networks dili lang ni limited to circuits/trunks/cell sites/switches...you also have to consider subscriber database. Gamay ra tinuod ang physical size sa hard drive pero it costs millions if you look into the number(licensed capacity) of subscribers inside that small thing.

Are you certain that cellphone providers charge cellular providers? Why would they charge licenses to use their handsets? The cellular providers have all the cards when dealing with what handsets they carry on their network. If anything, the cellular makers will pay carriers to have their handsets on a certain network. Most cellphone makers cater to the carriers and not the other way around, ie: AT&T catering to Apple or Globe catering to Apple. If you are not sure what fees are involved or how cash is traded, then it is best not to speculate. You mention database ... what database? ... and why do Philippine carriers have to pay cellphone manufacturers anything? Do Philippine carriers not have their own engineers to manage the network and the users? Do they have to buy Cellphone Office 2011? What is this license that carriers have to pay for that you speak of?

As far as area codes, Cebu can be given many area codes and that is the logical way to add more numbers. Many metropolitan areas in the US have many telephone area codes.

When it comes to capacity, adding more is trivial ... all carriers need to do is invest in them.
