Since, we are dealing with UNIX and Windows places, I would strongly recommend the winscp (in Windows) & scp (in UNIX). Aside from the speed, it could also lay on a secure path when it transmits, so, it is safe..

for more detail, you may follow this link, WinSCP :: Download

u cld use dhcp to reserve ip for specific machines via mac.

this is same sa static ip method..u cld use the dhcp as documentation of ur setup instead of doing an e-copy of the static ip.

    I agree on this

this s what i mean.. dhcp addresses using mac filtering and assigning permanent ip addresses with its corresponding machine..

how can u handle one thousand workstation (for example) using static ip addresses.. dli kaha ka buntagan og input tagsa2x sa imo machine kung naay changes sa imo dns or gateway ip addresses or whatsoever..

Come on... You are fully dependent on 3rd party software... When theres a command in windows console named XCOPY

    This is my pie,

The difference is that dhcp is awkward to determine the hosts and the IP Addresses basically due to the leased time stage. As we moving on, these are the problem,
    • Your machine name does not change when you get a new IP address. The DNS (Domain Name System) name is associated with your IP address and therefore does change. This only presents a problem if other clients try to access your machine by its DNS name and/or how would you manage if ther are tons of IP Addresses and Hostnames changing every now and then? If ther is a time that one of you client is snorkeling on the network and doing something that is not usual thing how would you control that?
    • This could also potentially increases the network traffic because everytime it finds DHCP server it broadcast first (did you know this fact?).
    • Additional time to establish connections (because of time taken to get IP)

Static is a fixed IP and Information of the client and this should be soft documented by following those Information Technology Infrastructure Library strategies and best practises.

Guys, I'm concerned about the facts in here and spread my seeds so it would grow and bear with a delicious fruit - Not from me but you are.

    thanks.

I agree with u bro.. but i didn't appreciate your word ("Oppsss. Really?") here.. its sounds like ur superior and we are inferior.. in forum we are equal whoever who u r either ur an expert and we are not..we must be humble and share our unique taste of pie with everyone of us..

    @redline, Peace be with you!

I am not boosting anything I'm just wanting and clarifying something from you. I'm just seeking a proof not just by saying na mas dali ang DHCP e-manage - we need proof on that in a sense na maka-agree sad ko.

By the way, think, this is a forum brad, let me ask u what's the purpose of the forum in a sense? Diba? this is a set of an appointment, argument of facts, chat, colloquy, confabulation, conferring, congress, consultation, conversation, convocation, deliberation, discussion, gabfest, groupthink, huddle, interchange, interview, meeting, palaver, parley, powwow, round robin, round table, seminar, symposium, talk, think-in, ventilation, explanation, and clarification and proof.

Don't think of anything negative about my "key words" down ther - that would makes you a loser! Saying that you can't explain of somthing, I wan't you to show off and stand your answer in a firm way. Like what i've said, this is also not in a superiorism (on my words) or inferior you are, this is just only an argument of deliberation, proof, and action.

I was just asking you, saying, "do you have any comment on this?" - and you don't have any answers and proofs of your statement - lucky those who have proofs - NO. Don't angry or deliver you opinion negatively towards this forum. I'm just seeking some exponential thoughts so, discussion could have spices or chilli or flavors for us.

"This is not a discussion of bad thoughts and feeling, this is a sharing of pie - a different flavor of the pie yet a family of the pie"
