Pangitaa nang mga libro ni Professor Ian Kershaw ai..kai murag syay isa sa mga leading wwii historians..naa ta ko pabasa nmo if naa paka dri..a memoir of a japanese officer during wwii..though dri sya nagskwela prewar nahimo syang japanese officer pag abot sa mga hapon sa mindanao kai i guess didto man cguro to sya sa davao city nagswela. his name was Hiroyuki Mizuguchi..the book is entitled "Jungle of No Mercy" i bought it sa national bookstore several months back..and it was a good read..first hand account jd sa war in a japanese soldier's perspective. though japanese sya pero nigpatigbabao ghapon ang iyang close ties sa mga pinoy.

I was looking for a book called the Koga Papers..kai didto man gi mention on how the americans acquire intel on where to land in asia in their quest to retake asia from the grasp of the japanese..i was able to read the book pero wla lang nko natiwas..kai dli man akoa gd..it was awesome kai didto diay gkan sa Bogo ang intel about sa Leyte Landing..it came from a japanese C.O. named Koga..and fortunately naai bagyo ato dri sa cebu dapit and ni crash land ang eroplano ni koga..and it so happens that he has with him valuable intel on all the japanese defensive positions all over philippines and it so happens that Leyte was the softest and least defended area..perfect for retaking philippines...it's nice to know that kng dli pa lang tungod natong mga cebuano wlai leyte landing.

This is pure speculation. The reasons for choosing Leyte was in fact part of a larger choice of whether to include the Philippines in the staged reclaiming of southeast asia (which was actually more of a political decision than a military one)...yes guys, if Nimitz and Roosevelt had their way, bypassed unta ang Philippines in the island-leapfrog operations--diretso unta sila sa Formosa (Taiwan)--MacArthur campaigned aggressively nga i-apil sa schedule ang Pinas kay he would lose face to his friends in the Philippines and this could affect his plan to run for US presidency. Here is an exerpt of the very very long study/analysis of whether to include the Philippines or not, in the plan to push back the Japanese forces to Japan:

    Luzon Versus Formosa

You can see how complicated the entire affair was, and that the decision to land at Leyte had nothing to do with how soft the defenses there were--it was a scheduling issue (they even skipped a major Mindanao landing, and opted for smaller landings in the Davao/GenSan area)

btaw..gpangusgan jd to ni mcArthur nga maapil sa ruta ang pinas pag balik na nilag offensive mode..hinoon mao manto ingon sa author sa iyang memoir..the intel collected didn't stop from the USAFFEE head sa cebu but it went to australia jd..daghan namatay ato na intel raba..at least it gave the americans something to consider when they choose to land sa pinas.

it also include radar radio an communications---deceptions and transmitting false infos

kani guys..i'd pose a question..what if the Treaty of Versailles wasn't as harsh and vengeful would wwii still happen?..as i have read from a book grabe man kaayo ug war reparations ang gpangayo sa France ug sa Britain which left Germany from a country status to barangay status nlang.

In my opinion, no i don't think wwii will happen pero naa lang isa ka crucial factor nga akoang nakit-an na possible ghapon na ma happen ang wwii even if the Treaty of Versailles wasn't all too harsh for the germans.

    1. Political ideologies

Communism, Socialism and other political ideologies started to spring up or gained prominece (probably hagbay ra pero this one is for the 20's-30's) during the 20's-30's causing massive riots and political instability which can be also be a catalyst for wwii

    2. Racism

With the growing political unrest it's not a farfetched idea na dli mu follow ang social unrest..and racism especially against the Jews..they have had a very long history in europe kapila nana sila gikulata over the years and this time in the early 20th century napunta napd sila sa limelight.

I'm no expert in the European political and social climate during those times pero sa akoa lang nabasa sa mga libro these 2 factors were, in my opinion, fueled a second installment of wwi with the Treaty of Versailles already kicking the germans in their daddybags..gsamutan pa jd sa mga political and social unrest..looking for someone to blame..and sure enough the Nazis gave the german people a couple of nice targets for them to put blame (though i can't say pd na dli ni angay i blame but it's open for debate)...for the political corner!! weighing 6 million lbs!!!! COMMUNISM/BOLSHEVISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and for the social and racial corner weighing a whopping 6 billion lbs!!!!!!! the JEEEEWWWWWWWWWSSSSSSSS!!!!!...

btaw kidding aside..i think these two factors are the main catalysts that fueled wwii..if these 2 things have been checked i think wla cguro wwii pero dli rman pd ni exclusive the europe gd..even the japanese have racists claims though cguro wla kaayoy political unrest pero dreams of imperialism was also in their heads..so i guess lisod jd diay tong mga panahona oi..there's no telling what will happen..what do you guys think?

really? coz AFAIK MacArthur repeatedly said that he had no political aspirations, there were speculation but none are true... he was also rumored that he was offered a Vice-Presidential by Taft...

I am closing my 52 years of military service. When I joined the Army, even before the turn of the century, it was the fulfillment of all of my boyish hopes and dreams. The world has turned over many times since I took the oath on the plain at West Point, and the hopes and dreams have long since vanished, but I still remember the refrain of one of the most popular barrack ballads of that day which proclaimed most proudly that "old soldiers never die; they just fade away."
And like the old soldier of that ballad, I now close my military career and just fade away, an old soldier who tried to do his duty as God gave him the light to see that duty.
    Good Bye.
one of my most favorite quote from the general....
