as the cliche goes "you cannot always teach old dogs new tricks"! if its an inherent and latent personality trait much less that is her character there is really less you could do to help her about it. You cannot weed it out of her system, just let time do its bidding to her. Anyhow, there's no harm in just a small nip! My point is if you try to bring it up to her do it nicely. again...just saying.
