i think the problem there is more on the connection because online or not spyware always runs o the background therefore your system should be slow most of the time online or not. usually you will be able to see more than 40 applications running in the task manager's processes tab. try to check the connection, there are sites that will gauge your connectivity speed. i tried one site from texas and i found out that my download speed is 300+Kbps and upload is 200+Kbps using smartbro.
