nindot gamiton sa missions involving rebels and terrorists there on the southern part of the Ph. This plane carries missions that require low fly with hi-bail out capabilities.
A-10 Thunderbolt II
The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American single-seat, twin-engine, straight-wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic in the early 1970s. The A-10 was designed for a United States Air Force requirement to provide close air support (CAS) for ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets with a limited air interdiction capability. It is the first U.S. Air Force aircraft designed exclusively for close air support.
The A-10 was designed around the GAU-8 Avenger, a heavy rotary cannon which forms the aircraft's primary armament (and is, to date, the largest weapon ever mounted on an aircraft. The aircraft's hull incorporates over 1,200 pounds (540 kg) of armor and was designed with survivability as a priority, with protective measures in place which enable the aircraft to continue flying even after taking significant damage.
The A-10's official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt of World War II, a fighter that was particularly effective at close air support. The A-10 is more commonly known by its nickname "Warthog" or simply "Hog". As a secondary mission, it provides airborne forward air control, guiding other aircraft against ground targets. A-10s used primarily in this role are designated OA-10.

defense is the best offence..
rebels doesnt have tanks, armored vehicles etc... it would render useless since rebels used civilian population as shields... would you bomb basilin if naa rebels? i guess not.. collateral damage would be huge!!! not to mention the NPA infested human rights group! grrrr.

but then again we need those hightech birds to patrol our skies and guard our nations interest... ill go for f16's since its cost effective.
instead of bullying our own airforce why not lobby(us civilians) in congress for the purchase of new planes.!!
But they have bases esp. near the malaysian border.
Remember when there's this operation on an island near Jolo which is a training ground for the terrorists then bisag na limpyo nila ang enemy base, na japun casualties which include a very young and fresh graduate Lt. from PMA(forgot his name).
bottomline is, those A-10 gatling guns can provide air support, I mean you can cut a tree with an enemy treehouse with those bullets right?
A-10's ability to fly low is what makes it okay.
ako rapud ni since, wala man tae en.ani.
yes that was the abu sayaf in basilan.. killed a very fresh grad.. 2nd lt. but bottom line is warthogs are dammed expensive to operate. US raman gani ng operate ana. but i agree we need more planes that can be used for COIN.
nindot ang super tucano for coin... old school yet very techy na kaau..
plus the budget constraint for the patrol f our skies upgrade version of the f5... the f5e's would be suitable..
