I hope the recent surge of crimes should also benefit Cebu in another way, "if" the police will continue to beef up its security forces and look for more innovative ways to combat crime like the fielding of the secret marshals.

The important thing is that the police should have learned a lesson or at least something out of the recent surge of crimes so that they can think of various ways and techniques to fight it.

It's not sensationalized news. IT is what it is. What you see now is the lack of law enforcement authorities (and lack of law enforcement itself).

We are not as special as we think we are. Luzon has Metro Manila, the Visayas have Metro Cebu, and Mindanao has Metro Davao. All cities are growing at an increasing rate. Cebu City is a growing city which only means an ever increasing population. More than half of the city's population is bordering poverty. Davao has the same problem too but why is it that crime isn't as bad as it is here and Manila? Because they have slightly better law enforcement over there and the citizens (both rich and poor) know that. Their city, although not entirely perfect, have better leaders than we do, at least in terms of LE.

I don't have much respect for law enforcement officers simply because I think they're weak at what they do. That doesn't mean I don't have respect for the law though. BUT to the desperate poverty-stricken people who have much less respect towards law enforcers, less respect for the law, and much much respect towards other people, what do you expect from them?

this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you

In fairness also to the Police, I think they're also trying their best to prevent crime from happening.

Some establishments also do not take precautionary measures. For example, that establishment that was robbed weeks ago did not have an alarm system although it is already SOP for them to have such. They even gave a lame reason as to why they didn't install the alarm system.

Much of the crime perpetrators also here in Cebu (especially those involving robberies) come from other provinces. If we were a country of our own, we could have easily deported them or made harsh punishments like decapitating their hands or heads, but then we couldn't.

Obviously, Cebu is the second largest city in the Philippines so then it follows that it could also be the second biggest magnet for crime perpetrators.

community safeness requires team effort and coordination, violence can always be provoked, do not be fooled with safety when at any moment you are not,
