Tom lauds Carcar cop

Because of his heroic act in foiling a robbery the other day, Carcar policeman SPO1 Romulo Agadier earned the praise of Mayor Tomas Osmeña who promised to push for his promotion if the policeman so wishes.
Osmeña also said he will give Agadier a P20,000 reward and will not hesitate to recommend the policeman should he decide to transfer assignment in Cebu City.
Last Sunday, Agadier was driving along M.J. Cuenco Avenue in a private vehicle with his son and his friends when he noticed a robbery in the passenger jeepney infront of his vehicle. He chased the two robbers as they got off the jeepney
Agadier first collared Romulo Ligan, 41, and the startled suspect threw his gun away, but Gerry Bayno, 28, tried to stab him and Agadier was forced to shoot him. The policeman was able to recover the stolen items of the jeepney passengers.
Bayno, who was shot in the lower back, was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where he died after a few minutes. Ligan, who was once imprisoned for 15 years and nine months for five counts of robbery, is now under police custody.
