one good arguement in relation to old-school and new-school is the HAIR. Back in the 80's up to the early nineties, bands have this "almighty hairdo". I can always visualize David Lee Roth and his make up, his leotards. They look funny at times but when you close your eyes and use your ears, then you will say "oh, ok, i'll shut up now". I think metallica spearheaded this "short-hair-still-cool-kick-ass-metal-look", when they cut their hair parallel to their Load album. Today's band may have short hair or no hair at all but they have this make up and s**t, the masks. They're grotesque. And sadly they can't back it up with their music.
