MERGED: Divorce in the Philippines

wa nay kwenta ang marriage if naa ang divorce, if you said that some marriage work some don't its because on how you respond to the needs and wants of each other. I tell you wala ka nag decide ug tarong na siya ba jud imong pakaslan. I still believe in marriage on what you've committed to the law and to the Lord God.

No to Anti Divorce = meaning dili ka ganahan na naay anti divorce bill (in short nahan kag divorce bill)
yes to divorce bill = meaning ganahan ka naay divorce bill

both sentences are pertaining to YES. Asa man jd? or mali lang kog interpret?

No. You are not killing your children emotionally. You are just showing them that despite the hardships and mistakes and deeply wounding sorrows your family is experiencing, YOU as a parent (be it the mother or the father) is still there. Strong and confidently believing in GOD that everything will turn out the way they were meant to be.

Catholics (whatever your religion is, everyone who believes in GOD whatever name you call him and no matter how you worship him) are forgetting what and who they really are. Forgetting the teachings of your church, teaching of common sense and of universal morality. Why? Because you want the EASY ****ING WAY OUT.

A society slowly drifting away from the pure and beautiful culture once treasured, loved and celebrated by our ancestors. A culture of close family ties. Of sacrifice, passion and understanding.

Are you serious? So you would rather have the parents pretend they're in good terms for the sake of the kids? Kay TILL DEATH DO US PART man? We're no longer in the 1950's, in case you wonder. I can begin to count more than the fingers of my two hands the repercussions/consequences of this. If a husband or wife is not happy with their marriages, why should they stay? Who wants to live with a partner you despise? Personally, I would rather have my kids grow up with a single mom/dad, but in a loving and hatred-free family.

Also, why are you defining FAMILY as only composed of the biological dad and mom (and kids)? What about the mom who remarried and found a wonderful step-dad that the kids love so much? Wouldn't we much prefer this kind of setting than the former?

before agree ka ayo ko aneh but now i dont know... lisud man gyud deli magka sinabot but.. if you value your love your family your love ones murag lisud pod.. murag imo nalang tunlon imong pride bah bisag sakit nah makita lang nimo ang mga tawo or imogn partner kids/family na happy mo atubangan nila but deep inside empty ka ayo ka..... wala pa koy kids ha hehehe.. but usahay maka relate lang ko aning relationship nga imong gi dala2x and lami na e let go but part of you deli pa ready mo let go...

Of course Annulment voids the marriage while Divorce acknowledges that the marriage did exist.

The bottom line ani nga issue is the power struggle again between church and state.

The church wields its power to marry and to annul marriages. Passing a divorce bill will take away the church's power so naturally the church is against it.

Im no expert sa Law on this matter... pero for a couple that's Married sa Church, kung legally separated na sa Civil, can the two marry again basta Civil ceremony bisag wala pa ma grant ilang annulment?

Yes to divorce... people have the right to choose and the right to be happy with their lives.

Daghan na kaayo families legally separated pero dili annulled because the anullment procedure sa Church takes so long ... but can be sped up if you have the right connections..

The annulment process also requires a lot of money pa and hassle kaayo.

If two people cannot live with each other na gyud, then why force them to? Let them move on with their lives and be happy.

on my opinion, philippines if better off a divorce free country. so to keep our values strong on keeping a relationship, especially the once with a bond. and so for us, filipinos, not to use and abuse of such law - if ever implemented -- (people have the tendency to use such as means of jumping from one married life to another, isn't it better to settle with the one whom we would love and choose to be on our side forever - and away from any experimentations?_)

i did not know that bro, ang church ra diay maka nullify sa marriage (currently)?
ako na baw-an ang annulment, kai di ka pwede pa kasal balik,.. ang divorce pwede ka pa kasal balik sakto ba? or baliktad?

Not all marriages work. Your marriage might be fruitful so good for you. However, you can't deny the fact that there are marriages that are trainwrecks.

Those who value their marriage can work on it until they stabilize. Why not give the option to end a marriage for those who are unhappy about theirs? If you fear about your morals, don't worry, you may still keep them. A divorce law won't strip them away from you.
