Default Foxconn's AMD A75 board pictured

Foxconn is a company that has been very quiet for a long time when it comes to its motherboard channel business and has stuck with doing fairly entry level boards and its AMD A75 chipset based socket FM1 board doesn't appear to be changing things. In fact, this is one of the most basic A75 based boards we've seen to date.

What we're looking at is a mATX motherboard with a single x16 PCI Express slot, a x1 PCI Express slot and two PCI slots. The board appears to have a pin header for two front USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports and some features we can't quite identify. We're also surprised to see a mere four SATA 6Gbps ports, especially as the chipset supports six and the PCB even having space for the missing two ports.

Around the back things are equally sparse with a PS/2 port, six USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet port, 7.1-channel audio (analogue only) and a D-sub, DVI and HDMI port. It could be worse, but it's hardly inspiring.

Foxconn appears to have gone for avery simple 3+1 phase PWM design and the board is mostly using electrolyte capacitors and rather old looking chokes. Low-cost is one thing, but we'd much rather pick something from ASRock these days than from Foxconn, although there's at least on positive thing about this board, all three fan headers are of the 4-pin type that supports PWM fans.
