i agree with the first post, we are so much concerned sa issues na directly mka affect nato, especially money, family etc. (which is of course primary jud nato na concern) but nakalimtan na nato ang pag higugma sa atong nasud. im not saying forget that, or forget the family or unsa but i-apil sad unta nato ang pag love sa atong country as part of the primary concerns from now on.

yes we pay taxes para sa atung nasud pero giving is not sufficient kung ang nghatag mismo diha ra kutob ang iyang effort, its like giving everything to a child but not being there for them.

ako pud cguro in a way guilty pud ko pero from now on i will do my best na pro active nko dili lang para sa akong direct concerns (family, money, work, etc.) but i will include loving my country as part of my main objectives as well para in my own little ways im helping this country move forward.

very true. pero i find it disappointing sad at the same time. if you were to ask filipinos whether to stay here or go abroad... majority would MOST likely prefer the latter.

but we can't blame them sad, what CAN this country offer them? would it suffice?
of course, these people need some change in their lives. they are not masochists man sad.

i think we are currently in the stage of "going" abroad to help the filipinos by sending money back to Philippines. I personally love Philippines specially Cebu... id do anything to stay here, if opportunity comes for me to work outside of the country i will work there, but my heart will still stay in the Philippines. and i will invest my earnings in Philippines Long-term.

there are lots of OFWs, but they always comeback to their home town and invest/Make a house/do business/ help relatives. its only because we don't have much choice right now that is why we are going outside of our country.

actually he just mentioned one key factor as to why the philippines is poor: It is the ONLY catholic country in Asia. Why are there poor people when people go to church?

Simple, because of catholic doctrine. Have you noticed that the poorer the people are the more they pray? It is because poor people think that money will fall out of the sky and that "the lord will provide". Praying encourages passivity not proactivity.

To compound that mindset, the catholic church preaches the "evils of wealth", the "man cannot be a slave of two masters" or "money is the root of all evil". Kinsa man pobre mangandoy ug kwarta na ang gitudlo nila dautan mana? And kung makakita sila ug mga dato di daw sila masuya kai "bulong ni satanas" daw na.

Instead of striving better they think they are above us all. Poverty has been made a cultural icon because our idiotic and talentless actors (Erap, FPJ and so on) of the past also encouraged this.
