    Default how hot question

    i have a P4 prescott running at 3.0ghz..
MBM says: (with this browser and YIM opened only)
    CPU: 59 deg. celsius
    Case: 44 deg. celsius
    Chipset 42 deg. celsius

now, i have no idea about what heatsinks do i have and stuff like that...

so i was wondering if i need a new heatsink or something if the temperatures im running at are too hot...

do i look at the Chipset temp or the CPU temp?

btw, room temp ra ni... wala ko aircon diri...

    thanks...

i noticed that underneath the heatsink, abog kaayo... how do you remove the heatsink? is it okay if i do it? or should i ask some professional help?

i used a semi-hard small paintbrush to reach the "Aluminum-thing" behind the fan... aku gi-lugit pag-ayo ang sulod nya aku sad gi-vacuum at the same time aron dili kaayo abog... when i cleaned it, it lowered the temperature by 5-degress celsius... changed the in/out flow of the casing fans further lowered the temp by 3-4 degress... now im running at 48 degrees while idle, compared to before, i was had 59 degrees even when idle and then it reached 77 one time while i was playing CS.... satisfied for now, but still im getting a Zalman or Thermaltake for the CPU...

don't mind the temp.. mind the stability... and it is also good to apply thermal paste at least once a year.

you put it between the proc and the heat sink. you can buy paste around 4 to 6 hundred. havent checked much on the shops prices lately. common brand is "arctic silver". if you buy one.. its comes with an instruction.

by the way.. what is the normal or average temp of the CPU on idle mode.. i mean no load. in an ordinary room without AC?? sa akin.. 40C on average pag hapon. around 1pm to 4pm.. wihtout ac. then pa gabi around 35C. need some ideas. thanks.
