^ there are a lot of nasty conspiracies going on when Americans are involved though. their hand in propping up dictatorships for their own advantage especially in latin america is well known and not really denied.
people are naturally going to be suspicious of a country that put self-interest above even morals, and the u.s. has always been consistent in this way. don't you find it interesting that many of the contracts awarded during marcos time were granted to americans? the bataan nuclear power plant is just one such project, it was awarded to westinghouse, a major american company. it's also interesting how quickly america helped marcos escape to hawaii.. is it because they knew he would take his billions with him and deposit these funds in american banks where credit-hungry american consumers can avail of cheap loans to fund the neverending cycle of overspending to stimulate the otherwise fundamentally moribund american economy?
the worse kind of monster is the one that pretends to be the champion of liberty, honesty and decency. at least china makes no such pretensions but in many ways it is now the favored superpower especially in africa since they don't have the nasty habit of interfering in the affairs of others. many people who are closely acquainted with how america works knows how quickly morality and ethics take a backseat to profits and economic advantage in the american mind, the recent wikileaks confirms just how this country operates, a democracy which believes in wealth and liberty for itself and no other.
