    i think it's men's machismo; nothing less.

    we all know how a guy can be ridiculed for being "under de saya". our dominantly patriarchal society dictates that between a husband and a wife, the man almost always has the final say.

    the law protecting women and children says a lot about who and what kind of people we are. it acknowledges two basic things;

    • that women and children need be protected because they are oftentimes abused, and
    • they are often abused because they are deemed weak and vulnerable.

    when a husband complains against his wife of abuse, the knee-jerk reaction is that he is "weak", as he "cannot control" his wife. this places him in a very awkward position against his peers who are constantly competing against each other's idea of masculinity, and at the same time trying to defend their own.

    this is because a man's masculinity (pagkalalaki) is a status that is constantly being challenged, constantly being defended, and constantly being asserted not just against women, but against other men as well.

    so why are there no specific laws against abuse by women? simple. men think that they do not need it. machismo.

    say who?

    i think labot ta ana, but its the EGO that keeps us not to raise such things, like being battered or harassed. kay hadlok ma degrade, thinking nga maubsan nya ang ilang pagkalalaki. aw basin sayop ko. hihi. or basin biased sad ang CHR

    ayaw mo ana oi, kung naa man gani mo ana nga sitwasyon. kasuhi ang sad-an, dpat lang.
