    i have used AMD 1090T, i7-2600k oc'ed to 5.0GHz(SBridge) & Xeon X5660 oc'ed to 4.6GHz(LGA1366)...for animation/rendering of commercials using softwares Maya & Massive...hands-down the X5660 is faster...the two others are not even close.

    Orly?

    Do you have anything to back those claims up since I've been building rendering/photoshop and video editing rigs for some time and It would be great for my customers to have a better performing system.

    @clamshell

    you should now the difference the current sb and the latest xeon. The two doesn't come even close in price tag what more in performance.

    @topic

    I'll go with sir butitoy's i5 suggestion, though I would prefer an 8GB kit for the ram considering the price of DDR3 ram nowadays.
