Default My puppy eats dirt and grass

Ngano mueat man ang akong puppy ug lapok or dahon? I've read and have been told by the vet na it's due to vitamin deficiency or iron pero sakto man ni siya sa vitamins. Anyone knows what this means? Overall, he looks ok man.

maybe malingaw lang na sila ug guba sa tanum...like my dog he has been destroying my mom's plants for two straight sundays.. if he destroys it tomorrow it would definately be the third.. but i gues the best way to do it is to stop the dog.. although its hard you have to discipline the dog

    Hi All,

I'm new here. Unfortunately I can't understand Cebuano dialect Sometimes, disciplining cannot suffice if its the instinct that calls. I think we should identify the root cause why your puppy is doing this. Anyways, most probably it may be due to a mineral deficiency, or it could be a mechanism to void off something like intestinal worms (or possibly foreign object).

But as it sounded, he's supplemented with multivitamins and minerals, which could suggest us with parasitism. Worms at times, especially at heavy infestation, could sequester vitamins and minerals being supplemented, bringing deficiency. Plus irritation pa brought about by the worms. Some plants/ leaves have anti-worming properties, so sometimes they exploit them expecting that they could somehow aid them. Worm burden may be determined by fecalysis, ask your vet about it. On some instances, failure in deworming do occur (especially with some preparations).

Or if he's between a 3-7 mos of age, maybe he's just teething, he is diverting the "pangangati" (of the gums) during this stage. Especially observed in medium-large breeds. Chew toys could greatly help, but avoid toys that can be splintered or easily chewed into small pieces, may damage throat or choke.

    I hope this make sense.
