im planning to share a globe broadband connection sa laptop but ang laptop has no lan card? ang port available is only rj11. ang source came from a switch nya dritso na laptop. normally dli maigo ang rj45 sa rj11 port. naa ba available na converter pde magamit from rj45 to rj11.

posible solution
1. since naa usb port ang laptop pde ba ko maka establish connection using usb port? what patch cord man gamiton?
2. rj11 ang gamiton but unsaon man paghimo patch cord kong ang cable gamiton is cat5-e cable.

you cant use your RJ11 port for DSL connection to the DSL modem. You cant even convert the RJ11 port of your laptop to RJ45 interface considering that the former is the modem interface (usually used for dial up).

Instead you buy an Eternet PCMCIA LAN card or an Ethernet USB dongle.

Ethernet USB dongle has the following interfaces:

USB - this connects to your laptop
Ethernet (RJ45) - this connects to the network (switch, hub) or in your case to the DSL modem.

OT: Tamblot, do you happen to know where I could buy a DB25 - RJ45 modem adapter here in cebu? I want to connect my aux port (router) to the external modem for testing purposes. Thanks.

@ridney: If you know the pin outs, how about fabricating it yourself. Anyways, RJ45 and DB25 connectors plus the UTP are available locally. And i believe you also have a crimping tool. :mrgreen:

But if you are seriously looking for one then just let me know. I'll check at the office if its available.

i made two of them but i just couldn't make them to work though i followed the pin-out from the documentation correctly. at first i thought that the problem was with the modem but when i tried to connect it with an RS232 DB60 to DB25 null cable through the async/sync port it detected the modem. i really have bad soldering skills

How about checking the pins for connectivity. By using a tester. If you have the pin out then maybe i could help.
