This was considered the first mass-produced electric car. GM discontinued and sought to destroy all of them save for those in museums. It was said during the recall of EV1, police and paramilitary surrounded the crushing locations. TIME magazine also placed EV1 as one of the "worst cars of all time." I'm not really an eco-person but I do believe as with most people that it was the oil corporations that conspired to get this car off the road.
