    have you print tested that r230 in the shop of where you bought it? if it went okay, do this please;

    - do a three consecutive soft cleaning(located in that r230's printer properties under maintenance tab). but please remember, DO NOT do consecutive soft cleaning of more than three tasks as it “may” harm the system.
    - do what ceejay advised, “print nozzle check”.
    - right click and save this picture below and print it(do not use the best photo setting, just photo, to ensure nozzle burst diagnostic);

    this shall loosen any possible dried/stock-up pigments there since pigment, although more durable and longer lasting, is more prone to clogged ups.

    After you done it, update us here..

    so you mean you didnt find any broken lines(any color) or missing color in the nozzle check diagnostic?

    is that yellowish you mean, severe?

    what photo printer you compared to its output? since r230 really is not that good in photo printing.

    i assumed you already tried setting it to best photo(photo rpm) and glossy type of paper configuration.

    dili kaayo yellowish pro if makakita ka sa picture may pagka yellowish gyud cya tan.awon. Actually naka try ko pa print sa ako picture sa mall(kanang tag p5 ang 3r), & i know na epson photo printer ila gamit regardles sa model then try nako compare mas nndot man ang result sa ila. same gyud ang color sa picture.

    if e compare nako ang result sa ako printer sa ako picture sa monitor lahi gyud cya ang color murag dark nga may pagka yellowish. try some brightness same ra gyud.

    as what ive said, that epson r230 is not so good in photo printing. ive compared it myself also to other photo printer and its really below par of a decent photo printer. its output is too soft, darker, and less detailed.

    please dont compare the result to the monitor, this is the most common assumption of owners that it should be 1:1 of what they can see from the monitor. monitor's color capability is far superior than inkjet printer's technology, specially that r230. but you can just calibrate with the color profiles/options to get a nearer output.

    but if that yellowish is really noticeable, its another story.

    i found this off tipidPC.com. they were discussing print settings sa R230. I just recently bought one myself but wala pa nako ma CISS. im still trying to figure out how to get the best photo prints off this printer. this is not my profile setting and wala pa ni nako ma test but this is one of the advised profile settings for printing photos on R230:

    1. click advanced button on printer settings
    2. click continue button on the window that pops up
    3. choose:

    a. borderless
    b. ultra glossy
    c. photo rpm
    d. high speed
    e. super microweave
    f. photo enhance
    g. digital camera correction

    then save settings and type profile setting name. you can then choose the open book logo for this type of setting when printing.

    dapat daw mag profiling man gyud daw ka for monitor color output, ink, paper and print setting combination to determine what works best for you. these are the 4 factors that affect your print output so dapat daw mag experiment gyud para ma achieve nimo ang nearest to original output of your printer brand ( using your printer's brand of paper and ink ).

    when starting a profile ( combination of monitor settings, ink, paper and printer setting ), first buy your printer's brand of photo paper and do prints using the original ink so you will have a standard quality which you will try to achieve with non-branded consumables. this should be done regardless of what your printer is. the reason companies recommend using their original ink and paper is because gi profile na ni nila ilang products to produce the best possible output - meaning, they have tested different kinds of paper and different kinds of inks to come up with a winning combination.

    so kita na mag ciss, dapat mag profiling sad because we are using different inks and paper. also, ilang advise is that if your printer comes with dye ink originally, then use dye ink and not pigment. if original ink is pigment, then use pigment.

    regarding paper quality, here is what i also read off other websites:

    1. opacity - usually no problems associated with opacity when using photo paper because they are already thick enough
    2. brightness - brightness is rates between 1-100 and photo paper should belong in the high 90s. since most photo papers do not come with brightness label, so you have to compare them side by side. photo papers come in different shades of white. the brighter they are, the brighter your colors turn out.
    3. weight - example 230gsm - i still haven't figured out which works best for R230
    4. gloss finish - depends on what you prefer but glossy photo paper is usually used by most people

    i hope you can share what you know and what you have experienced printing with R230. i sure can use the info. btw, unsa na ciss ink brand imo gamit? also, ila advice is don't keep on changing inks. stick to one brand if you already found one that works for you.

    @chipmunk888, do you sell photo paper as well? if you do, do you do profiles for your ink and paper combination? nindot unta if you can show sample prints to customers with different papers para dili na mag hit and miss on what affordable paper to use with your ink and they will know what to expect.

    cjkent, i am starting to get good results with my R230. at first, i encountered the same problem as you did - dominant ang yellow. then i found this thread and used the settings they used.

    Setting A
    Document: Adobe RGB
    Color Handling: Let Photoshop Determine Colors
    Printer Profile: Epson Glossy Paper (or whatever other glossy paper is listed in the menu)
    Rendering Intent: Perceptual (this is my preference but if you are after a bit more contrast and saturated colors try Relative Colorimetric)

    Print Settings: I usually choose the best quality settings.
    Paper Choice: Should be Epson Glossy. This determines the ink load.
    Color Management: again should be turned OFF since Photoshop is handling the color conversion and the profile you choose (Epson Glossy) is mapping Photoshops conversion to the paper through its icc profile.

    Setting B
    working rgb = adobe RGB
    from photoshop, go to view --> proof setup --> custom --> profile=epson stylus R230
    file --> print with preview --> page setup --> choose printer --> properties
    advance --> choose photo paper --> qaulity=photo
    color mode --> epson standard
    print preview --> color management= let printer determine colors
    print away

    Setting C
    All other features of B plus:
    rendering intent - relative colorimetric
    black point - checked
    color management - icm but I unchecked the "off (no color adjustment)"
    final print - a bit warm color

    i tried setting C and used Photoshop to determine colors and it worked for me. Not too yellow anymore. Try it.
