Default RCTV and its crime against music

If you work at RCTV or know people that do, please, please, for the respect of music, take the editor aside and discuss this very seriously.

I have found *at least* 2 occasions in which music by The Doors was tragically mis-used on RCTV.Â* I saw *at least* because only flip to RCTV occasionally, so who knows how many other mis-uses there have been.

Incident #1. As the TV showed video of a local reggae concert in Cebu but the background music was a song by The Doors.Â* Why, when showing reggae music, would you play rock and roll / blues music?Â* WHY?Â* (Why not use music from bands in the concert or some other reggae!?)

Incident #2. As the TV showed video of young cadets performing a march on the drill field of a military college (or some other type of military academy), the background music was by The Doors.Â* Â*Why is this a mis-use?Â* Because the music of the Doors is to discipline and authority as water is to fire.Â*

The lead singer of the group, Jim Morrison, was the first major rock star to be arrested on stage.Â* IN FACT the music being played in Incident #1 was "Peace Frog", which has lines in it about how the cops beat up Jim Morrison.Â* I am not anti-military or anti-police, I just explaining the obvious fact that the Doors does not fit in a video when that video's purpose is to show the military in a favorable light.Â* (See post script note #2 below for more information).

In any case however, the editor certainly did not need to know these things to realize what a poor choice this music was for those videos.Â* In both cases the video was meant to show an up-beat and positive message, but the music chosen was of a more down-low blues vibe, not fitting with the video.

Please, in the name of music lovers everyone, take more care when choosing music!

If you know how to reach the right people at RCTV, please share my words!Â*

    Thanks,
    Brian
    (English only please)

    POST SCRIPT NOTES:

    1. Why did I write this?Â* IMHO, The Doors and Pink Floyd are the two greatest bands ever produced by the human race.Â* Not just because the music is amazing, but because the content and the words are also.Â* The Doors is dark poetry.Â* Pink Floyd is the human condition.Â* I am not a violent man, and not even truly a music lover, but when I saw this mis-use of The Doors, I became physically angry.

    2. The Doors was used a lot in the movie Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola (considered a masterpiece by many).Â* That movie is superficially about the military, but really it is about the dark heart of man, certainly not a positive message.

I'm just curious but I'm n0t familiar with the technicalities of the subject, but does RCTV even pay the label that released this song from "The Doors"?

Anyway, I loved TOUCH ME by the said artists.

I don't think they or any TV channel or radio need any permit to use a certain song for BED. But I might be wrong.

And you know what brian, I'll bring this up to my friend who's from RCTV. Thanks.

OT: Well, you're the only one who's reacting so far. But singing in the classes, music for your masses give no head no backstage passes, have a proper giggle - I'll be quite polite. But when I rock the mic I rock the mic right.
