can you elaborate more? Do you want to install an OS from usb or you want to install OS to usb like persistent linux? Im guessing you want to install OS from USB. for linux you can try this, UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads for windows xp, you can try this, How to Install Windows xp using USB Flash Disk | Jcmiras.Net_02

    for windows 7:

format your usb flash drive at least 4gb, use NTFS for the filesystem, if not possible, just use fat32, and convert it later by typing "convert x: /fs:ntfs" where x is the letter of your flash drive.
then use bootsect, bootsect /nt6 x: where x is the letter of your flash drive. you can download bootsect here ==> http://www.4shared.com/file/3QASMN04/bootsect.html
then simply copy the contents of your win 7 installer to your flash drive and your good to go.

tried and tested, I have triple boot OS on my system, namely the OS above listed, win xp, 7 and ubuntu. I use ubuntu more often though.

BTW, the ubuntu OS is the easiest to install of them all.
