Arroyo orders retake of nursing board exams

(2ND UPDATE) PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has ordered a retake of the nursing licensure exams that were held in June, although details on the date, how the tests would be conducted, and whether this would be partial or total have not been discussed, a senior Cabinet official said.

Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said the decision was reached in a meeting between the President and officials of her Cabinet, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), and the task force on national council on licensure examination (NCLEX) to restore the “integrity and respect� of the nursing profession in the Philippines.

"It was presented in the Cabinet meeting yesterday [Tuesday] and the President made the decision and agreed with the majority of those who spoke that, yes, let's allow the retake," Ermita told reporters at a news conference in Malacañang Wednesday.

I agree. And those graduates who will be concerned, why be? If they are sure of their knowledge, no amount of test should scare them. Better that than people having doubts on them when they apply for jobs.

i agree with the proposition that to end the issue of legitimacy, the result must be nullified and a new examination be given. I think this is the most effective way of bringing back the dignity of the board examination which is supposed to be the ultimate measurement of ones worthiness to exercise the said profession... Examinations are designed in order to prevent and filter incompetent individuals from exercising any profession.. everyone has to make a sacrifice.
