I'm a Canon user but saw photos taken with Nikon and unless someone tells me, I can't really tell the difference. You need to have good reasons for wanting to switch.

what's the point of this thread then?i am satisfied with the images im getting

I have a friend in Canon too and he cautioned me about buying from Canon employees because Canon sometimes audits employees who bought Canon products to see whether they have them on hand. This is to avoid complaints from Canon distributors and retailers. You will not get in trouble but your friend will. Swerte siya kung naa ka diri sa Cebu para mahulam niya balik imo cam.
Here are some things you may want to consider before making the trade:
1) What brand do most of your friends use? This is so that you can borrow their gear before you purchase your own.
2) Are you planning to really go into photography? High end Canon lenses cost less than high end Nikon lenses.
3) The D3100 is the best entry level camera out there as of writing. The Canon 550D is a toned down 7D.
