The bluray drive on the ps3 made it a no brainer for me imho. I have owned both so far walay problema sa quality.
Id roughly say the spelling on both differs?
EDIT:
Setting aside all the leg pulling
I would say it really depends on the games you wanna play and the money you want to invest on the system.. as of now the PS3 is the cheaper console but the games are a tad bit more expensive, exclusive titles are getting smaller as days pass.. M$ is really investing on those devs to make the game on their platform as well.. Probably lesser hardware problems compared to the pre-360S system
On my end, I might get the 360S soon as most jRPG's are already on the 360 and aside from God of War theres no other PS3 exclusive game that peeks my interest, but the Blueray player on the PS3 is also great but I just DL my 25GB movies anyway xD

PS3 becuase its also a media hub. You can play videos from your PC, You can stream videos from your PC to the PS3 via wifi connection, also the feature i like the most is it would upscale your dvd videos to HD 720P, As Blue ray player I dont use this since I just use mkv files.
Also the games.
I dont know if the Xbox360 can also be a media hub.

I believe non of them plays mkv files, you'd have to convert on both. The xbox does upconvert dvd's as well, don't know how good though haven't played any dvds for over a year now. I think the Xbox is a pretty good media hub as well.
