    Default Port Scan

    Hi,

How can I disable Port Scanning? I keep on receiving alerts on my firewall.

our Gateway has detected and successfully blocked an event that could have compromised the security of your network.
Please refer to your customer documentation for a description of the logged event.

Number of security log entries : 3

Security alert type : Port Scan
    Protocol type : UDP
    IP source address : 200.49.144.221
Time at last attempt : 1/4/10 01:49:08 PM
Number of ports that were scanned: 101
    Highest port : 51896
    Lowest port : 51887
    51887 51888 51889 51890 51891 51892 51893 51894 51895 51896
(Only the first 10 ports are recorded.)

    Thanks.

You cannot stop it since it is not you who is doing the Port Scanning. All you can do is block it using a firewall.

Be glad also that you're receiving such alerts because that means your firewall is working.

u wont know that ur server/ip is alive.

if someone pings ur IP, it will just return a "time out".

disabling ICMP/ping won't stop anyone from scanning specific ports of your server.
