    Ferdie,
thanks for featuring the song "rain". It brought back a lot of familiar feelings. I know you guys do not know me but i was the one who wrote the lyrics of the song "rain". I wrote it in 1988 (if i remember it right) in our house in escario capitol. I already started the melody in its raw form. Roy was our drummer before he joined "40". I left my notebook full of lyrics to him and played to him the song. He brought it to the guys and they arranged the song and gave life to it. I was kinda pissed at first but later I was just happy that the song made it to the top and it touched a lot of people. I was there at local ground in Sacred Heart School when they sang it. My hair stood up when everyone sang. What can i say, i made my little contribution to Cebu's Local Music and nobody knew it. Haha! I would like to thank 40 for being a vehicle for my thoughts and feelings. Hats up to you guys. By the way, its a Christian Song for your info. I was talking to God in that song.

ataya. karaana aning estoryaha uy. pero sige na lang, tagaan og chance. bitaw, elementary pa ko when forty the band ningsikat. bati lang kay they didn't have the perseverance, like all the artists and bands during those years, nangawagtang tanan. even their sponsors nga si johnny kawa (cawa) ug si ka pedro namiya sa eksena, murag nakabiyag tae. unya ila mga songs wala kaayo cebuano identity. over-hyped tong panahona, more promotion, less substance. but still, they made us proud to be cebuanos by starting it all. sila gyud ang nagsugod. wala lang kasustain. cebu's music scene today is more alive than during those days.

What do you mean nga wala sila'y perseverance?? 40 lasted over a decade and walay perseverance??

Nangawagtang tingali sila tanan because they have their own lives now... most have families to support. Do you think and banda banda sa Cebu maka supporta ug pamilya??

Swerte lang ang mga banda karon kay at least naay outlet sa ilang music... naay maayo nga supporta. Pero sa una, unsa raman intawn to? Y101?

Personally... I don't think 40 Started it all. I'd give that credit to IRON SMOKE.

To: Ezra, you moved to a new home and i guess you have a new number. Please give me your number naa pa diri and regalo sa akong kinugos diri haha . Anway, everyone has a different opinion to who started it all. Everyone has his own realities. But i guess freddie meant was doing original stuffs and reaching a huge audience with their music. Iron smoke was a good cover band and makes you want to sing Uriah Heep and Scropion songs. haha. After singing their songs you would have to get your tonsils out!! I have to say i agree with you. 40 was one of the longest running band around and the guys are still playing in different bands today.

If you'd based it on who got their songs aired first, then I would have to say ETU started it all.

Sure, there were bands that had a following before ETU. 40 started way before him, but as a show band doing covers. Iron Smoke and other cover bands (i.e. The Frictions, Maria Cafra (were they Cebuano?)) we're there too.

But while these bands were thriving, ETU got his song aired over at Y101. Not sure which came first though. Was it "How Lucky You Are" or "Fading Out On Distance"? Both were very good songs and sounded very foriegn. I haven't even heard of ETU before I heard his songs on Y101.

But yeah, 40 The Band were truly pioneers on the Cebu music scene.
