I know real music fans don't just ignore an artist just because of who he/she was associated with or played with in the past. so i hope you won't ignore this artist,
Scott Moffatt.
He's famous in Bangkok now as a hardcore/pop-punk/indie producer but he also record his own music. His production is comparable to that of
Howard Benson,
Bob Rock, and al those mainstream rock producers
(Bob Rock produced The Moffatts Submodalities Cd in 2000) but his solo stuffs are bedroom folk. Lo-fi with different sonic experimentations (think
Neutral Milk Hotel and
Animal Collective with the depth of
Bright Eyes and the freak-folk sound of
Grandaddy with a hint of
Panda Bear and
Brian Wilson)
But as of this year, he takes his own music aside in favor of producing Asian hardcore/pop-punk bands and Canadian indie rock. It's also reported that he even flew to Nashville earlier this year to produce a track from singer/songwriter
Cory Lamb and his brothers' country band Two Bullet Parade (Bob and Clint).
He also won
Producer of The Year in the
Thai Headbanger Awards 2008 for his work on
Brandnew Sunset's album.
A busy guy flying across the globe just to produce other artists...
But i hope he'll let his own music see the light of day...
He is currently in Canada right now producing a band called
Roads, formerly known as
Flicker.
