    Default Roman Catholic "confessions"

James Cardinal Gibbons, The Faith of our Fathers, 88th ed., pp. 89.

"But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify."

James Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore (1877-1921), in a signed letter.

"Is Saturday the seventh day according to the Bible and the Ten Commandments? I answer yes. Is Sunday the first day of the week and did the Church change the seventh day —Saturday — for Sunday, the first day? I answer yes. Did Christ change the day'? I answer no!
    "Faithfully yours, J. Card. Gibbons"

Peter Geiermann, C.S.S.R., The Converts Catechism of Catholic Doctrine (1957), p. 50.

"Question: Which is the Sabbath day?
"Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath day.

"Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
"Answer: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."

As what i've read from some history books, The Roman Catholic Church was named "The Holy Roman Catholic Church" sometime between the period of the early middle ages... that is from 800 - 1100 A.D.
Did the Roman Catholic include that in their confession?

Does a Lady Pope existed? as what i've read again, yes there is!

Does the ex-Roman Catholic Popes were pious? No, not all!

Saturday is th Jewish sabbath.. Christians on Sunday but not a day of rest as what Jewish sabbath mean, but its a day of worship.

Passages of Scripture such as Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:16-17, and Revelation 1:10 indicate that, even during New Testament times, the Sabbath is no longer binding and that Christians are to worship on the Lord’s day, Sunday, instead.

The Jewish Sabbath was abolished at the cross where Christ "wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us" (Colossians 2:14).

    are you sure or misinterpretation?

    proof here.

Christ’s disciples kept the Sabbath after the Crucifixion, even at the cost of delaying the burial of their Lord.
Luke 23:56 - And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment.

Paul and the Apostles observed the Sabbath with both the Jews and the Gentiles.(Acts 13:14, 42-44; 16:13; 18:4)

There’s no mention in the New Testament that the Seventh day Sabbath was eliminated or changed.

even in the New Heaven Sabbath still be observe.

    Isaiah 66
22 - For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23 - And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Sabbath is the sign of Gods people.

Ezekiel 20:20 - And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

Peter R. Kraemer, Catholic Church Extension Society (1975),Chicago, Illinois.

"Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts:

"1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe the Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man.

"2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church, instituted by Christ to teach and guide man through life, has the right to change the ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of the Sabbath to Sunday. We frankly say, yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic marriages and a thousand other laws.

"It is always somewhat laughable, to see the Protestant churches, in pulpit and legislation, demand the observance of Sunday, of which there is nothing in their Bible."

    WHY?

    GOD SAID…

Deuteronomy 4:2 - Ye shall not ADD unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye DIMINISH ought from it, that ye may keep the Commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

    who misinterpreted it?

    Exodus 31:16–17
16Therefore the Israelites shall keep the sabbath, observing the sabbath throughout their generations, as a perpetual covenant. 17It is a sign for ever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.’

-the Israelites shall keep the sabbath
-It is a sign for ever between me and the people of Israel

Sabbath is intended only for the Israelites! beginning Moses 'till Jesus resurrection..

Prior to Moses, did the time of Adam, Abraham and Noah observe the sabbath?

newton, if you dont recognise the New Covenant done by Jesus Christ on the cross, then you must review your bible study

    Saturday (Sabbath) or First day?
What day did early Christians worship on
The first day (Sunday) IS THE LORD’S DAY!
    Original Quotes on this page!

    The Historical Record!

    1. Christians always worshipped on the first day (Sunday)
    2. They state that they stopped keeping the Sabbath to worship on Sunday started with the apostles. None of say they kept the seventh day Sabbath. The only mention of Sabbath keeping was by Eusebius in 300 AD by a cult-sect known as the Ebionites, who Eusebius says also worshipped on the first day. (Ebionites were a cult of Judaizers who enforced circumcision, rejected Apostle Paul’s teachings, denied Jesus' virgin birth and his deity.)
    3. They partook of the Lord’s Supper (communion) every first day.
    4. They called the first day (Sunday) the Lord’s day.
    5. They called the day Jesus rose from the dead, the Lord’s Day.
    6. They said the reason they worshipped on the first day, was because it was a weekly memorial of the day Jesus rose from the dead!
    7. They outright state that no one prior to Moses (Adam, Noah, Abraham etc) ever kept the Sabbath because it was Moses who first gave the Sabbath law and the ten commandments to man!
    8. Augustine actually stated that Christians are bound to keep 9 of the ten Commandments [because the New Testament repeats and re-introduces them in a different form] but are free to break the Sabbath!
    9. The earliest Christians never considered Sunday to be a rest day or the Sabbath. You will observe that the first mention of Sunday being a day of rest was in 220AD by Origen. This is the beginning of the current false doctrine, that Sunday is the Christian Sabbath, as taught by most churches today.
    10. While Sabbatarians will quote 20th century authors who guess about what happened 1900 years earlier, we quote Christians whose writings are 1900 years old and spoke what they saw!

    .
actually newtons, Sabbath was not eliminated or changed its still be observed BY THE JEWS. but not anymore for the Christians.

The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. But the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Christians are free from the bondage of the Law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Sabbath keeping is not required of the Christian—be it Saturday or Sunday. The first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10) celebrates the New Creation, with Christ as our resurrected Head. We are not obligated to follow the Mosaic Sabbath—resting, but are now free to follow the risen Christ—serving. The Apostle Paul said that each individual Christian should decide whether to observe a Sabbath rest, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday.
