Rage Against the Machine will reunite for Coachella

Red Hot Chili Peppers and Björk also top the bill for the three-day music festival.

Rage Against the Machine, the seminal L.A. band that made heavy music into political manifesto, will reunite after a seven-year lull for one show as the headliners at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Sources say Rage, which played the main stage at the first Coachella in 1999, will be joined by other familiar faces for the eighth edition of the festival, which covers three days this year and begins April 27: Red Hot Chili Peppers, which headlined in 2003, are back, as is Björk, who topped the bill in 2002.

Organizers were mum this weekend and it was not clear which day Rage or the other acts were slotted to play; that announcement is expected in the next few days. Other acts expected in the eclectic lineup: Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Manu Chao, the Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Air, Tiësto and Kings of Leon.

whoah!! both JAMC and RATM were very influencial to my formative years as a musician.. by the way, i was able to catch that RATM show sa manila.. it was a blast.. i ended up watching it alone kay my friends got bleacher tickets and i got more expensive ones kay nahutdan na.. however, i enjoyed it every bit.. kick ass show..

wow!! i think this was way back in '97..diba? kato promote nila ila evil empire nga album... if im not mistaken 4 years ago atong panahona nanukar sad ang sonic youth ug beastie boys. wa na lage kaayo mobisita sa pilipinas nga mga banda ron..i wonder.

i think buhi pa gihapon ang Audioslave. probably the reunion is just a one time gig for lost RATM fans...hehehe. The group is probably just taking some time off from their uber-rockstar heyday. Btw, Tom Morello's The Nightwatchman debut album has just been released and so is Chris Cornell's.

kinda....miah of d'rockers somewhat informed me through friendster. i hope jim will be sober not unlike their last gigs in 1998 which ended up with brother william not returning after a disastrous set.
but it's more like teaching the kids a thing or two with bands like black rebel motorcycle club, singapore sling and the raveonettes copying that WALL OF SOUND guitar which the MARY CHAIN beautifully perfected in their 1985 PSYCHOCANDY album....

what about My Bloody Valentine's Loveless?? hehe. i think the "thick as break" wall of guitars in that were perfect too. there can never be two perfects. that's the universal rule of floor gazers...heheh.
