    Default RECOMMENDED FANTASY BOOKS

Has anyone here read the His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman? This includes, The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. What do you all think? What do you think of the philosophical/religious overtones and message of the book? Or did you enjoy it as just a good story?Critiques, reviews, discussions?

Terry Goodkind: The Sword of Truth books. A bit hard to find in the bookstores but I'm sure there are a lot of people willing to lend a copy. Start with "Wizard's First Rule"

David and Leigh Eddings! You just gotta start on them, the books are fun and entertaining. David Eddings injects a lot of humor into his characters. You'll love them. There's the Belgariad and Malloreon, two consecutive series of 5 books each. There's also the Elenium and Tamuli, another two consecutive series of 3 books each. And there's the Dreamers, the latest series published. If you haven't read Eddings yet, I'd suggest you start with the Belgariad.

    The Belgariad
    Pawn of Prophecy
    Queen of Sorcery
    Magician's Gambit
    Castle of Wizardry
    Enchanter's End Game

I'm trying to collect all Eddings' books. My sister, meanwhile, collects Terry Brooks -- another good fantasy author.
