Contractors/Engineers i need help regarding Steel Decking

Hello istoryan contructors and engineers, i need help in deciding what to use in my residential project. im planning to use steel decking for my second floor slab.

my concern is that,is it practical to use composite steel decking instead of reinforced concrete slab?

what's the advantages and disadvantages in using steel deck?

Bro, the advantages of steel deck:
(1) acts as formwork during construction, so less formwork needed (just for the beams)
(2) if installed properly and neatly, no need to install ceiling underneath the slab, that is if you want to expose it.
(3) fast construction, referring to (1).

disadvantages; all of the advantages I mentioned earlier have corresponding costs added to them in construction, such as formworks, ceiling, and labor. It's advantages may or may not overshadow the cost of using this system. It would really depend on the area you want to apply this system. If the area is large enough, we don't have a problem but if it is just small area and you plan to place ceiling taking into account that this is a residential project, forget about this and go for the conventional reinforced concrete slab.

thanks for your help bro. actually the floor area for this system is 57 sq.m. and no need for ceiling anymore coz the whole ground area will be use as garage. my concern for this project is fast construction to somehow cut labor cost.

i have already ask for quotations at DN steel for this system, and the outcome is 35K for 17 pcs. panel steel deck with tek screws.

plus cement, sand and minimal rebars so it would cost me around 45K for this system alone. please tell me if its just reasonable?

Steel deck is about 25-30% more expensive than conventional.
If u plan to have a ceiling, then go for conventional, if not, and you have the budget for it you can go ahead with this.

Bro, sorry for the late reply. I doubt that you will only add around 10K for cement and rebars. You will still need columns and beams to support the structure above you.... For the slab alone you will need at least 18K (assuming 75mm thick slab), plus rebars for the slab around 18K also. It is safe to say that you set aside 75-80K of material cost for the slab alone.
