The guitar is a musical instrument, that both accompanies through the use of chords and as a melodic instrument that makes use of single notes. It is used in a wide variety of musical styles, and is also widely known as a solo classical instrument. It is most recognized in popular culture as the primary instrument in blues, country, pop, Jazz, and rock music.

Come this November, the glorious sound of guitars being strummed shall resonate around the Guitar Capital of the Philippines, the City of Cebu. From the 22nd to the 24th of November, Cebu’s foremost and influencial GUITARISTS will be in attendance at the 1st ever Cebu Guitar Festival at The Outpost in Nivel Hills. The festival is dedicated to the many subtleties, varying styles and techniques that attribute to the guitar being one of the worlds most versatile and influential of all musical instruments. Here in this beautiful city everything from Bluegrass to blues, jazz to rock, folk to acoustic fingerstyle and everything else in between will be catered for. The festival which extends over three days has at its core all age performances form notable Cebu guitarists and artists and also workshops will be conducted for the duration of the weekend.

In addition to this are the guitar exhibitions feat: the world famous Mactan Island Luthiers guitar exhibition, vintage and contemporary guitars as well as pedals and other guitar paraphernalia. A photo exhibition will also be displayed by famous photographer John Unson that will present a choice selection of Cebu guitar heroes who has made significant influence in the Cebu Music Industry. With this unique blend of guitar virtuoso’s, popular musicians, workshops and exhibitions this festival will cater to a wide variety of people from guitar enthusiasts to music lovers to holiday makers.
