Default What's the highest PSU wattage I can go for an Intel D865PERL motherboard (Pentium 4)

What's the highest PSU wattage I can go for an Intel D865PERL motherboard (Pentium 4)?

I have an Intel D865PERL motherboard:
    Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL - Intel® Desktop Board D865PERL support

    with the following processor:
    Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz,
    2.79 GHz, 1.00GB RAM

I only have a 300W PSU and I clearly need more,
because the video card says so.

Is it safe for me to upgrade to a 550W PSU?
(Or, what's the highest PSU I can go for?)
    Won't it fry my motherboard?
I normally leave my machine on for months.

    Thanks.

the PSU follows ATX 1.1 specification so even if you get a 1k PSU for your motherboard, it wouldn't fry it since the load depends on the consumption of the components. it doesn't feed the entire 1k Watt to the motherboard

I see. Thanks for the ino!

The Octagon SM guy said larger wattage might ruin my motherboard.
So, I didn't proceed with a PSU purchase.

It it helps I have the following board:
    Intel® Desktop Board D865GBF - Intel® Desktop Board D865GBF support

Almost similar to yours in size and layout......AND I only use a HEC 350W power supply on it and I'm running like 2 hard drives, 2 optical drives, 5 80mm fans, an AGP card, and a P4 2.6 "C" Ghz 800FSB processor.
