need help with my DDR2 RAM...

i just bought a brand new 1gb kingston ddr2 800 this afternoon at pc express and when i installed it na praning akong cpu! magsigi og off then mu on nasad balik. After it became stable after several trials.. system properties displayed 3.2 gb memory when in fact i have 1x2gb ddr2 800 and 2x1gb ddr2 80, it should appeared 4.0gb... wa nako kabalik sa pc express ky sarado na... naunsa kaha ni? my mobo is MSI P35 NEO...

^^ As stated by muzikfreakah, if you're using Windows XP you're only going to see/be able to use about 3GB of your 4gb of RAM.

If you want to make full use of the 4gb RAM, you either use Windows Vista, Linux or BSD.

haha,. we are most likely on the same boat bai,. nag palit pud ko ganiha ug another stick 1G kingston 667, sa gaisano interpace,. pag taud nko ganina nag BSOD ko,. ambot ngano nsad to,. pro nag dagan na ang duha ka stick ron,. kung stable?. im not that sure,..run my new ram on memtest on windows version.. got lots of error,. just like my old stick,. pro padagan nko sa memtest86+ on dos mode,. ok man,. wla man errors,.. libog nko ani.. must be my board o ang cpu ang problema ani akoa,..

take a look at your mobo manual kung naa ba specific mem combination iyang gi-ingon like DDR1 slot = DS, DDR2 slot = DS etc...there are particular mobos that have these requirements nga if u populate all slots sa mems. also dili gyud na nimo makita the whole 4gb sa imong rams bec. some of those are used/mapped by the various devices sa imong system.

mao diay... windows XP2 akong gamit, balhin diay ta ani og vista...i already followed the instructions sa mobo manual pero wala gihapon, 8gb man unta ang max sa akong mobo.. sayang diay ni akong napalit na RAM....unsaon naman nako ang sobra nga RAM

this is the limitation of 32-bit systems. up to 3 Gs ra jud ka brad. now, on vista it may report that its seeing 4GB but only 3 GB is usable to windows. if you want to make use of all the RAMs, you need to go 64-bit.

i forgot to add one more thing, from how you describe your current ram configurations, yo have 4 slots for the RAMs right and currently, you have 3 filled up. now, the mobo you have is dual channel, so the memory works better in pairs, the first 2 you have is okay but adding a lone 2 GB on the next slot is a different thing. could be the reason why its not running stable.

DDR2 = best installed in pairs specially in dual-channel motherboards.
