try a known-good power supply if you're using a generic power supply.

where did you plug the hard drive?

click properties
click advanced
click setting
uncheck automatic restart
click ok
this will enable you to see the error in a BSOD.

as most people say, there's a great chance that the PSU is defective. but, it may also have something to do with the temperatures in your PC. just give us more info.
