on obscurity and independence

as a music junkie, i'm always on the look out for new tunes. there are lots of "unknown" and "undiscovered" artists out there. these artists and their music, i believe, should be heard. sometimes breaking free from mainstream media could be a fresh and exhilarating experience. not only that, but some of these artists can actually give those mainstream pop stars a run for their money (or should i say musicality).

so here, in this thread, why don't we celebrate obscure and indie music from here (local) and abroad (and i don't only mean american music,ok)? list here some artists (and specific songs too if you like) that you think are worth listening to.
