    Default Dvorak vs Qwerty:

    Here's what I say:

The Dvorak Simplified Keyboard is a keyboard layout created by Dr. August Dvorak as an alternative to the more common QWERTY layout. It has also been called the Simplified Keyboard or American Simplified Keyboard, but is commonly known as the Dvorak keyboard or Dvorak layout. Although the Dvorak Simplified Keyboard ("DSK") has so far failed to displace the QWERTY de facto standard, it has seen an increase in popularity in recent years especially among computer programmers and others whose jobs require them to do extensive amounts of typing. Contrary to what anyone may think, the Dvorak keyboard has an easy layout that surpasses the Qwerty in speed typing. I havent really personally used this but I would like to know the opinions of anyone here so that I'll have a better clarity of the issue.

Thanks to any reply in advance.

QWERTY layout is designed to slow typing speed as much as possible. This is to avoid getting jams on older mechanical/manual typewriters. DVORAK on the other hand is designed so you can type the most efficient way. With common english words, your fingers usually stay on the middle row and finger movement is minimal. As a result typing in a DVORAK layout is more efficient and looks like you're just tapping your hands as if you're waiting for something.

QWERTY layout should be more than enough for almost everyone. If you want to have faster WPM DVORAK is the way to go. I've tried this layout before but I don't find it worth my time. Gaming defaults would be messed up.

Yeah. I kinda thought about that too. Gaming would be more difficult.

I've been using dvorak for years. It was actually introduced to my by my uncle when I was still in high school. As long as you memorize the keys, you won't have any issues when using a querty keyboard and you'll even type faster. ^_^
