The wuxia school of thought has never been so articulated than in Zhang Yimou's (of the engaging "Not One Less") "House of Flying Daggers". From cinematography (the guy must have been married to his camera for years now) to production design (take note of how the colors were mixed in every shot) to screenplay (by Yimou and two collaborators) to direction (Zhang Yimou), "House of Flying Daggers" is a moving spectacle of love, screeching swordplay plus arty daggers, vengeance, causes larger-than-life, and Shakespearean tragedy.

The Mei choreography at the Peony Pavillion --- the one called "echoe game" --- is just mesmerizing overall.

i ve had this movie thru a DVD---i must say --its pretty impresive for a Hongkong films---the stunts, the choreographed fights,,the dagger and weapon fighs are spectacular esp...the chase in the bamboo woods--no wonder US films are adapting to this style------i suggest u see it--will realy leave u in awe....now i think im gonna rip that DVD from a fren of mine for a cipy of it....

i loved the movie ...though mejo over lang sa flying scenes...heheh

this was showing in local cinemas some time ago.

i liked the first half, but the second half was just too dragging. except for the twist. then again i just watched this because of zhang ziyi and that guy from infernal affairs, andy lau.
