Feeding: Siberian Retrievers are thrifty eaters and need less food than you might expect. They can be fed their daily amount in one or two meals.
Living with a Siberian Retriever
Temperament: The Siberian Retriever is a loving, affectionate, lovable, patient dog. This cheerful dog is very fond of his or her family. Lively and good-natured, they love to play, especially in water - for they love to swim. Though they do generally have a lot of energy, especially as puppies. They crave human attention and need to feel as though they are part of the family.
Family Dog: The Siberian Retriever makes a great family dog.
Shedding: The Siberian Retriever is a heavy shedder.
Training: Siberian Retrievers are very intelligent and trainable, but they have a mind of their own and will only obey a command if they see the point. Labrador Huskies may be difficult to housebreak.
Behavior: The Siberian Retriever is extremely friendly and curious.
Barking: The Siberian Retriever is typically more quiet than the Husky.
Weather: Some Siberian Retrievers may hate the rain.
Exercise: The Siberian Retriever loves to run so daily exercise is a must.

Siberian Retriever Appearance
Appearance: Some Siberian Retrievers may have more of a Husky appearance but taller while other will more closely resemble a Labrador Retriever.
Companionship: Siberian Retrievers can make wonderful companions for people who are aware of what to expect from these beautiful and intelligent animals.
Head: The head of the Siberian Retriever is somewhat triangular in shape.
Eyes: The Siberian Retriever may have two different color eyes including one brown eye and one half blue half brown eye.
Ears: The ears of the Siberian Retriever are pointy and can stand erect at time but are typically down.
Feet: The Siberian Retriever has long feet and web-like paws.
Tail: The tail of the Siberian Retriever curls like a Husky's and is black with white pointy tip.
Color: The coat of the Siberian Retriever can be black and white with some copper or light brown mixed in.
Coat: The Siberian Retriever has a double coat.

ife Expectancy: The average life expectancy of the Siberian Retriever is 10 to 15 years.
Characteristics: Siberian Retrievers may be reserved with strangers unless very well socialized as puppies. The Siberian Retriever will take advantage of you if you give them the opportunity so be careful not to give them the chance to do something like escape or steal food because they will. They can become destructive if left too much to their own devices and love to dig. These dogs have a strong prey drive and will go after small animals.
Show lines are generally heavier and easier going than field lines. They do not like to be left alone, so if this is the breed for you, you may want to consider having two. Often the best pets are from combination show/field stock. Remember that the Labrador Husky is a sled dog in heart and soul. If you are planning to show, buy only from a reputable breeder.
Some of their talents include: hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdogging, police work, narcotics detection, guide for the blind, service dog for the disabled, search and rescue, sledding, carting, agility, and competitive obedience. English Labrador Huskies mature faster than the American type.

Ear Health: The Siberian Retriever may have a problem with parasites so becareful to check their ears often.
