    Default Toycon

@all: Hello. I found out that v2y and wats are planning a ToyCon during Sinulog 2007. I decided to invite people from the Anime/Manga thread and Comic Book Drawing Club thread to a meeting this Sunday September 3 at 2 PM in East West Cafe to discuss how we can contribute (not necessarily financially).

Personally, I'd like to see competent comic book artists (not necessarily professionals) either hold comic book drawing tutorials (bahala na unsa style, anime/manga or mainstream) or manage an on-the-spot contests.

Some would like to see chicks in sexy costumes

Whatever, if you think you've got the time, skill and talent (organization skills, networking skills - daghan amigo ug amiga na hilig sad ug toys, anime/manga, comics, comic book art, etc., master of ceremonies, etc.), then please join us on Sunday September 3 at 2 PM in East West Cafe. I already invited wats and I hope he comes so he can brief us on what the Toycon's scope is. v2y is planning to visit next month daw so we might as well meet him if he comes.

If you see a bunch of geeks with sketchpads drawing well-endowed superpeople at East West, then that would be us.

Salamat and I hope dili ni OT kaayo na category.

@Chaoz: I have no idea about the scope of the planned Toy Convention. wats would be in a better position to discuss this here or in a face-to-face meeting. I'd like to know from the main organizers if it's possible to hold either drawing contests or drawing tutorials or both. The former being the most likely as most artists probably don't know how to teach what they know.

Local artist group? Music? Painting? Drawing? Dancing?

#1 problem is always security.... theft will always be there but we can try to minimize it... imho, SM would be the best location.. one way in, one way out... unline ayala its an open space...

base on me and barney's experience with a small convention that has been running for 2 years already... planning should start at _least_ 6 months ahead of the planned date...

@guys: Those are wonderful ideas. Can you "elect" a representative or two to attend our meeting this Sunday at 2pm in East West Cafe Ayala. I know some of you are "richies" and are well connected with the owners or managers of toy, comic book, video game shops. It would be nice to coordinate with wats and v2y regarding the ToyCon and make it an exciting event by expanding its scope to include anime/manga themes, video game contests, cosplays, drawing contests, etc. However, all of these are ideas right now and it would be nice if there would be actually people who can commit to their realization. So? See you guys this Sunday?
