Default When is Reverse-Engineering/Hacking a Crime?

This thread on this forum was made to clarify and abolish the common wrong belief of most people regarding the word "hacking" or "reverse-engineering" in all aspects in computer technology.Kay nanaghan na jud ang mga ignorante karon, mao daog jud ang naay sulod ang utok!Dili ni nako copy paste, hinagoan ni in my own words and understanding base on my experiences

So first of all what is Hacking?
I know almost all of us knows that there are the good and bad hackers.Sure,we know exactly the difference of those two guys, but act itself we are often mislead and misinformed.Everyone of us have a meaning of this word by our own.But the truth is,hacking is "testing" a server or computer's security system or capacity of strength by trying to find what we call "loopholes" or errors. And we could do that by conducting several attacks to the server.Once we find and understand what is wrong with our security, then we should already fix the errors before it could be destroyed or intercepted by anyone. Its just like an inventor of a car, searching for his vehicle's weaknesses so once he sells it to the market, many buyers will purchase his car because they know it is reliable and strong,or simply, hacking is like experimenting.
    F.A.Q
-So when is hacking wrong? Simply, when you penetrate or intercept someone's belongings without his/her permission even when you have no intentions of personal gain or profit.
-So why are some hackers instead of going to jail, are given high-paying jobs? Because the company or the developers knew they could work for their team's security, instead of losing an important person. There are even some companies who are announcing to hack their server, and fix if a rare bug has been found. Then a reward should be given.
-Why is DDoS not called hacking? It is not hacking because you arent stealing informations to the attacker except for his IP address. But it is still illegal because you are hindering someone's internet connection.DDOS is also one of the most used methods in testing a server's capacity of traffic.

    What is reverse-engineering?
Reverse-engineering is modifying or changing a hardware's behavior and change it whatever you desire.A good example of this is by downgrading and jailbreaking a modern Playstation 3 model.Because you are injecting a script or codes to the memory to force it as you wish.Another example is the famous George Hotz which is the founder of the Iphone's jailbreak. When does it become a crime? Once you bought your gadget, you can do whatever you want with it,no one can stop you, unless you sold your knowledge to other hacks for your own personal gain, then it is now a crime.

So yeah, thats it mao na akong ikatambag, nosebleed english, sadi lang mag lisod kog bisaya basta ingon ani ang mga topic.Im not a professional being, but I am happy to share information FOR FREE!

Reverse-Engineering, akong nahibaw.an, is to know how things work. Like you have a working phone, dismantle it one by one and turn it on. checking for ICs used, checking for voltage and current, resistance, inductance. Or on an old Radio, Removing component one by one, learning how things work.

Hacking or should be Ethical-Hacking is for people who would like to test on how secure their system are.

Crackers are the people who get information where they share or keep the info, or even use their information.

Reverse Engineering is legal as long as you dont make profit of it, similar to hacking you wont go to jail as long as you are allowed and you didnt sell what ever you get from hacking..

contrary to popular belief, hacking is a general term... it is divided into multiple sub discipline..

Legality of reverse engineering and hacking, in the case of softwares are are normally mentioned in their respective EULA's. So if they mentioned that you are not allowed to do so in any way then that would result in any form of penalty if you try to break them.
